Beno, VIP Director

Burgundy offers something few wine regions in the world can: refined, elegant wines that can be enjoyed today, or in 20 years. Today, this means Burgundian wines are more expensive, so we usually aren’t able to source them for our classic program. That said, we found a few beautiful Natural Reds that we are compelled to share with you. We think they will elevate any holiday feast.

Vintage

After an extremely difficult 2016, the Côte de Nuits had one of its better years in 2017. The wines are fresh and juicy, with lovely balance and structure. They are also packed with graceful red berry, supple tannins, racy acidity, and mid-range alcohol levels.

Tasting

The nose is perfumed with red berries, warm earth, and a dash of white pepper, while the palate is elegant and succinct. Bursting with soft red fruits and driving acidity, the wine finishes with a crescendo.

Vintage

2016 was a difficult vintage because of a few instances of frost and mildew, which led to lower yields. However, the fruit that did make it is of high quality. Bright, fresh and classic notes appear throughout, with serious ageability potential.

Tasting Notes

A mix of red summer fruits, dried tree bark, and savory green olive on the nose gives way to a palate filled with sweet red fruits and a kiss of licorice on the finish.

The village of Vézelay in northern Burgundy is a cooler area that experienced a plentiful 2018 vintage. The fruit expresses the more easy drinking, riper side of Burgundy, somewhat akin in style to Beaujolais.

Tasting Notes

Incredibly clean red fruits with a touch of blackberry that creates a ripe and juicy nose. The palate is equally as bright with lush black cherry, spiced blackberry pie, and hints of green strawberry on the finish.

2017 Regis Bouvier Bourgogne Rouge "En Montre Cul"

Seductive & Ageable

Vintage

2017 in Marsannay was healthy and abundant, resulting in juicy wines with good acidity. This means the wines drink well right now and have the structure to cellar for years.
