About Dry Farm Wines

How is Dry Farm Wines different from other wines?

Dry Farm Wines are unique from conventional and standard organic wines in the following ways:

  • Free of pesticides & herbicides*
  • Sugar Free
  • 12.5% alcohol or less
  • Less than 75ppm sulfites
  • Third Party Lab Tested
  • Pedigreed grapes & regions
  • Grapes from small family farmers
  • Vetted vineyards
  • Exclude the FDA’s 76 approved winemaking additives

*Standard organic wines are free of pesticides & herbicides, but do not adhere to the rest of these standards.

What do you lab test for?

Every wine is lab tested by a certified independent enologist. Each wine must meet the following criteria:

  • Sugar Free (less than 1g/L)
  • Lower Alcohol (12.5% alcohol or less)
  • Lower Sulfites (75 ppm or less)

We also follow a strict vetting process for each grower and each wine. Every wine is free of pesticides and herbicides, grown without irrigation, and fermented with wild non GMO native yeasts.

How much sugar is in your wines?

Our wines are sugar free, lab tested, and friendly to lifestyles like ketogenic and paleo. All our wines are low carb and have been independently lab tested to verify they contain <1 gram of sugar per liter.

How can your wines be sugar free?

Our pure Artisan Wines are fully fermented, meaning the native yeasts have converted all of the sugar in the grape juice into alcohol.

Aren’t all wines sugar free?

This is quite uncommon in commercial wines, which contain added sulfites to stop fermentation prematurely and keep sugar in the wine.

Typical commercial wines often target elevated levels of sugar, driven by the demand for sweeter foods and beverages. We think wine without sugar is a completely unique wine experience, resulting in deeper and more complex flavor profiles.

We lab test every bottle to ensure they are sugar free, with <1 gram of sugar per liter.

Why are your wines lower alcohol?

Commercial wines in the USA contain up to 16% ABV. Our wines contain up to 12.5% ABV, and are independently lab tested to verify the accuracy of the labeling.

You might be surprised to learn that alcohol levels on a wine bottle are not required by law to be accurate.

Do you carry alcohol-free wines?

While we don’t carry alcohol-free wines, we often carry extra low alcohol wines at 11.5% ABV or lower, sometimes as low as 9-10% ABV. These cuvées still offer the complex profiles of wines made with higher alcohol, which is no easy task. It takes immense skill in winemaking to produce ethereal wines with depth, while adhering to our standards for zero sugar, low sulfites and low alcohol.

If you would like your Membership or order to contain our lowest alcohol wines available, please contact us to set up a Custom Extra Low Alcohol shipment.

How many calories are in Dry Farm Wines?

A 5 oz glass of our lab tested Artisan Wine has no more than 0.15 g sugar and 12.5% alcohol or less. This means each glass has roughly 95-135 calories, depending on the exact alcohol by volume.

The calorie content in a conventional 5 oz glass of wine can vary dramatically - from around 95 calories (for wines with lower alcohol and sugar content), to 200 calories or more (for higher alcohol, higher sugar wines).

Are your wines vegan?

Yes, our wines are vegan. We source pure Artisan Wines from vineyards that don't use any animal products in the winemaking process.

What type of yeast do you use?

Most wines are fermented with lab made yeasts. Our pure Artisan Wines are fermented with wild, non-GMO, native yeasts. These yeasts naturally grow on grapes and are found in the air of natural vineyards.

What is dry farming?

Dry Farming is the practice of not irrigating vines. Instead, the roots of the vines grow deep to find a natural water source. It is better for the planet, better for the vine, and produces nutrient rich fruit. Based on expert research, we estimate our growers save roughly 700 million gallons of water annually.
