Tasting Notes
The Mérande "Le Comte Rouge" is one of those wines that really shows the best of the place it comes from. This Mondeuse has a nose that moves between delicious fruit and more earthen and mineral qualites before descending to a palate with some lighter, crunchy, berry fruits with just the smallest kiss of oak bringing sweetness, spice, and a touch of tobacco to the palate. The quality of the tannin here, more sandy and fine-grained, invites pairing with protein, but it's delicious on its own, as well.
