This wine is tailor-made for a plate of seared scallops with brown butter, or break it out early for a Salmon Benedict brunch.
Tasting Notes
There is a lot of middle-of-the-road Bordeaux Blanc out there - it's not a bad thing, as these wines are often easy-drinking, straightforwardly delicious, and reliable. However, there are some truly stellar white wines from this famous region, and this is one of them. Bordering on the fruitiness of Sauvignon Blanc's from New Zealand, the nose of this wine is a bouquet of tropical fruit, with a signature grassiness that draws you in. The palate is zippy and bright, and continues these tropical, cold-fermented elements, bringing in enough weight to suit many palates. One of the few 100% Sauvignon Gris wines out there (Sauvignon Gris is a pink-skinned mutation of Sauvignon Blanc), and a staff favorite of ours, no doubt.
