The classical pairing for Grüner is Austria's favorite dish, schnitzel. However, the depth and structure of this wine will make it a great match for spicy stew and soups, even flamboyant Indian and Thai curries, as well as all manners of simply-prepared seafood.
Tasting Notes
The Diwald estate is a leader in the world of Austrian wine. After converting to organic viticulture way back in 1976 (well before there was even a certification), they have been friends of sustaiable agriculture for virtually as long as they've been growing grapes and making wine. They truly rely on the quality of their grapes to define their wine, and this is a great example of how powerful that can be - with a lovely nose of white flowers and some distinctive minerality, and a palate with depth and texture, but also plenty of citrus elements, this is a classy example of what Grüner Veltliner can be.
