Lean green when talking Sauvignon Blanc! A delicately prepared plate of asparagus with béarnaise, or grilled artichokes with homemade aoili are about as good as it gets with this wine, but a cauliflower steak with chimichurri or a green peppercorn sauce would also be spectacular. For almost every Loire Valley white, going to your local fish monger will never be a bad choice - oysters, scallops, fishes with white flesh, all will be delicious beside most Loire whites.
Tasting Notes
A classic Loire Sauvignon if anything - rather than the explosive aromatics and fruitiness of something similar from New Zealand, this wine relies on zip, minerality, and citrus fruits as its fundamental character. A touch of oxygen exposed during the winemaking introduces a kind of honied richness to the palate that isn't necessarily expected, but works, and works well. A simple, crisp white with a subtle side, pair with picnics, pools, and beaches, but don't be afraid to break out the tablecloths and silver for a dinner beside this wine either!
