The somewhat rare combination of fruit and tannin in this wine make it a lovely pairing companion, and it will do well with a variety of meats, from burgers, to crispy-skin pork belly, to roast chicken or game birds. The earthy elements here make it an excellent partner to earthy vegetarian fare too like mushroom risottos and vegetable stews.
Tasting Notes
Of the ten famous "Cru" villages of Beaujolais, it's quite possible that Morgon has the greatest reputation. Producing ageworthy wines with structure, and distinctive mineral elements, the wines from these famous granite slopes are a totally different kind of Gamay than what you'll find at the village level. This bottle, coming from one of our favorite domaines, has a nose that speaks to its class, with strong mineral elements, and full dark fruits. On the palate, it's savory with ample fruit weight, and a light lick of tannin that invites pairing with food.
