Fire-grilled meats are an obvious pairing here, and the richness of a nice side of pork will be particularly yummy. The rustic, fruity qualities here also make this an excellent pizza wine or pasta wine too.
Tasting Notes
The residents of the Roussillon region largley feel that they are Catalans that just happen to be located in France, and the red wines from the scrubby old vine Carignan and Grenache here very much have a Catalonian flair similar to Montsant or less-intense Priorat. The concentrated red fruit in this wine is balanced nicely by herbal and stony notes that come from old vines, while the winemaking style is decidedly modern, aiming for freshness and drinkability.
