This has that classic Rhone black olive thing going on, maybe a touch volatile, interesting tho, dark fruit, classy, fruitier than I expected, tingly tannin, kind of a nice contrast between palate and nose, cool! -- b(2.5), t(3); B1 - Dark and brooding, some newer oak elements, tepanade, more from a richness than vanilla POV, - Hungarian/American? Palate has nice length, brightness in fruit, tannins are in check - Is this bottled? Pray for ABV. Heavy reds for sure "MC: Clean, classic nose, nice dark fruits, smells good. Lightest touch of spritz, but showing the grilled/spiced/smoky side of syrah. Winner for Bold Reds. AR Arrivals: frozen berries, purple fruit, nice acid, spiciness, nice"
Tasting Notes
It's incredibly challenging for us to bring in wines from Australia for a number of reasons: the sunshine gives these wines a lot of alcohol, the lack of rain means that dry farming is a rarity, and conventional winemaking is still the norm. That said, when we can bring something in, you can rest assured that it's bloody brilliant. The Vanguardist Syrah opens with distinct notes of olive tapenade, herbs, dark fruit, and even a touch of vanilla. The palate is big and burly, with substantial fruit, long, lingering tannins, and a remarkably lengthy finish. This is a bottle that's delicious now, but will be even better in five years time.
