A lovely match for this wine would be escargot with garlic butter and puff pastry, although it will do very well with all kinds of game meat, as well. A terrine of chicken liver with jam and toast or a classic Duck a l'Orange will be worth the extra legwork, or a plate of simply grilled mushrooms will be just as fantastic.
Tasting Notes
It's hard to beat Beaujolais when looking for no-frills enjoyment, and this bottle from Nicolas Hirsch definitely fits the bill. With ebullient candied red fruit on the nose, along with just a touch of stemmy green that adds complexity, the palate is juicy and satisfying with hints of tannin and bold, full fruits.
