Pairing
The overt fruitiness of Cinsault makes it a great foil to gamier meats, and we can't think of a better pairing than this wine alongside some Duck Confit with cherries. Barbecued and glazed ribs, cheeseburgers with bacon jam, or sweet, slow-cooked beets or squashes will impress, as well.
Tasting Notes
Cinsault is one of those grape varieties that we are loving more and more. This grape, native to the South of France, almost always comes with a charming, easy-going red fruit quality that is very reminiscent of strawberries and lighter red berries, very few tannins, and a lovely refreshing acidity. It's a grape tailor-made for a style of natural wine that's only growing more and more popular too: light, everyday reds, suitable for warm early afternoons. This example from the Stellenbosch in South Africa leans into this lovely, juicy, fresh fruit element (the Grenache also helps with this quite a bit), with some nice light spiced elements, and present tannin. A wine with charm for warmer days.
