Pairing
When looking to pair German reds, a great place to start is with a "what grows together, goes together" mindset. The brisk acidity in many of this country’s wines, including this Roterfaden & Rosswag, makes them excellent counterparts to fatty bratwursts or other sausages, various schnitzels, or spätzle with plenty of alpine cheese and butter. Alternatively, they're great pairing partners for lighter proteins, like a grilled chicken breast or salmon filet.
Tasting Notes
Aren't most wines the result of "Vineyard Projects," after all? This story is unique, though. Rosswag is an ancient, viticultural treasure in Germany, a series of vines planted on terraced amphitheatre-like slopes that circle a village. Roterfaden is the name of a collaborative winery run by two passionate local growers, Olympia Samara and Hannes Hoffmann. The two have been brought together to help preserve this treasured place, and you can understand why when you first taste this wine. With a lovely whiff of mineral and smoke, and a touch of herbal green, the palate is full of bouncy blue and purple fruits followed by a crisp finish. An uncommon wine from a singular place in the wine world. RARE FULL-FRUITED MINERAL CHARACTERFUL FRESH
