The soils that Christoph and Julie Hoch farm are wholly idiosyncratic in the wine world, and provide the backdrop for their extraordinary wines. The rocky soil known as Konglomerate may make farming challenging, but the fruits of their labor are mighty and flavorful. The Garten aus Stein opens with classic Burgundian notes of fresh struck match, a touch of cream, and lemon, while the palate is rich and robust with a deeply mineral streak.
