Nothing is going to go better with this wine that barbecued pork, either ribs or shoulder, but it will do excellently against game meats, steaks, and darker roasted veggies like eggplant or beets.
Tasting Notes
It's no secret that Syrah loves granite soil, achieving its apotheosis in the hard rock of Hermitage, Cornas, and Saint Joseph in France. But, it's also found a home in that same soil type in the Southern hemisphere, on the windswept shores of Coastal Stellenbosch, in South Africa. This wine combines the delicacy this soils elicit in Syrah with lots of rich, juicy fruit from the other Rhone varieties. The result is a wine with a bouquet that's both floral, but also earthy, with even a bit of bacon fat and black pepper, while the palate is sweet-fruited, with a background meatiness that Syrah lovers will go wild for.
