An excellent red wine to enjoy on its own, the Pineau d'Aunis will work well with a variety of foods ranging between flaky white fish and game meats. Enjoy with soft goat's milk cheeses, a classic Trout Almondine, or a whole roasted squab with herb butter.
Tasting Notes
Pineau d'Aunis is one of a handful of grape varieties that's unmistakable in the glass with its trademark aromas of white pepper and grapefruit. This Pineau, from one of our dearest growers in the Loire, opens with those notes, along with a bit of tart red fruit, moving to a palate with the same tart red fruit, a haunting earthen backdrop, and a soft finish.
