A lovely red aperitif, especially in the winter time, the Jera is lovely to drink on its own, or with lighter proteins like grilled soy-marinated chicken skewers, a crispy-skin salmon fillet beside an herby cream sauce, or market vegetables with aoili.
Tasting Notes
A featherwieght red from the esteemed limestone soils of Zellertal in Germany, the nose on the Schwedhelm Jera is immediately entrancing with its ripe notes of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, beside a whiff of smoky earth. On the palate, these initial intimations come to fruition along with a touch of herbal green that brings new life. The tannins are minor, yielding a wine of superb drinkability and freshness.
