2023 La Bergerie de Fontenay Petit Chablis
Tasting Notes
The word, "Chablis," holds a lot of sway among serious wine drinkers for the crystalline, laser-focused Chardonnay that these chilly vineyards bear, and this Petit from La Bergerie de Fontenay bears all of that same class. Opening with light notes of yellow fruit, a touch of fresh herbal green, and a viscerally-appealing minerality, the palate is similarly glassy and complex with the same fruit with lots more depth, a tense mineral finish, and brisk acidity.
Food Pairing
In our minds, nothing is better with roast chicken than a delicious Chardonnay, and this wine certainly fits the bill. Alternatively, a lovely cooked oyster preparation like Oysters Kilpatrick or Rockefeller will be wonderful, or glazed root vegetables.
